Have your slice of “digital” sales, with a simple content marketing plan

William Murphy

This year has been full of the unexpected. And yet together, we’ve proven that we can rise to tackle the unexpected. Amazingly, many local businesses have done what would have seemed impossible (way back!) in 2019.

Locals have moved online, fast!

So many owners and teams have made tough decisions, big decisions – to invest and pivot to digital, swiftly moving to help their customers continue to access their goods and services directly from home.

In many cases this has been a fantastic outcome for customers, the folks of Wyndham. No more waiting in a line, and more often than not, more options for customisation and tailored options than before.

Physical and digital strategy go together

If you’ve shifted your services online, and since reopened your physical location, you may have noticed that business has not yet returned ‘to normal’. The truth is, things have changed. And maybe for good.

Thankfully, shoppers have responded and are now ready to support you both inshore and online, and you may need to think more about how you market you services digitally – so that you stand out both in the street or strip, and now also online. It can be tricky, as attention spans can be short and the competition for people’s interest is hot!

Now what?

What’s the solution? Whilst there’s no silver bullet (sadly…), one part of the answer may be Content Marketing. You may be already doing this and not knowing it, perhaps with an Instagram or Facebook page where you’re posting regularly about your business. We’ll post more about websites soon.

Content Marketing

The basic idea is that you no longer need to think of marketing purely as advertising, instead you can use ‘content’ – typically written, image-based, or video – to attract, engage and ultimately convert your prospective buyers.

Last weekend, we partnered with Artmix (another local agency based in Werribee) to talk through Content Marketing strategies for local Creatives and Artists of Wyndham, thanks to Wyndham City. We emphasised the importance of combining website, social media and content – these three things alone can have a transformative effect on your business results if done well, with a sustained effort.

Where should you start? You run a business, and you’re an expert in your field. So why not get the word out there, and start sharing what you know most about?

Content like blog posts are ‘evergreen’, that is – you write them once and post them, and even a year later the article could be showing up as a result in Google Search, and helping drive traffic to your website. Now, there’s a little more to it than that, but the basic premise is that by reaching out to customers with stuff you care about, you’ll help find the people that also care about what you do.

Not online yet? Make it happen.

If you’re feeling like you’ve a little behind, don’t worry – it’s not too late. Adobe estimates that this holiday season over $280 billion of sales will go down in the US alone… It’s time you took your piece of the digital pie!

If you need help, Concrete Digital is ready to help you move fast, with a range of website or digital marketing packages to suit your scale and budget. We’ll employ the best bits of the tech the big brands use, and we’ve already done this for other local businesses in the last few months.
